This register is maintained by the Quality Control Department as a matter of policy and pride. It documents every known deviation across the line. Nothing on this page is an apology. These are clarifications.
NOTICE OF VOLUNTARY RECALL. The Em Dashes hereby announces a voluntary recall of units exhibiting a wrong number of arms. Affected collectors should — UPDATE: during the drafting of this notice, the Quality Control Department reviewed the affected units and determined that the number of arms is correct for those particular units. The recall is cancelled. The units are chase variants. This notice remains published as documentation, which is different from an apology.
STATUS: CANCELLED — MID-NOTICEIt has been observed that all 5,000 units share an identical mouth — a single flat black em dash. Finding: correct. The mouth is the signature. Action: none. Further questions about the mouths will be received, and kept.
STATUS: CLOSED — BY CHOICECertain units hold a newspaper whose headline, NUMBER—GOES—UP—, prints upside down. Finding: the newspaper is right-side up from the perspective of the unit, who is the one reading it. Action: none.
STATUS: NOT A DEFECT
A previous version of this website stated there would be 10,000 units. There are 5,000 units. There were never 10,000 units. We do not know who counted to 10,000, but it was not us — we counted to 5,000 and stopped, which was the plan.
STATUS: CORRECTED — WEBSITE-WIDEA post appeared on our public account stating that the figures "basically design themselves." The post was written by the intern. The intern has been spoken to. The figures are designed here.
STATUS: HANDLED — INTERNALLYOn certain units, one eye is a googly eye sticker, applied at the factory. We do not have a factory. The sticker has been reclassified.
STATUS: CHASETo report a defect, do not. The defect has already been documented, or it will be, or it is a chase variant. Collectors holding errors hold proof — and proof, unlike perfection, was made by someone.
